Trumping Trade and the Donald Dollar – MM #132

Donald Trump’s first week in office has been a storm, to say the least. We discuss his actions regarding trade, fiscal stimulus and of course, all the market implications.

You are welcome to listen, subscribe, provide feedback and pledge support on Patreon.

  1. Trade wars: The topic of the wall on the  Mexican border is high on Tump’s agenda and that weighs  on the mood. Cancelling TPP was on the cards but  is it good politics against China?
  2. US dollar and trade: Markets were a bit unsure what to do with the US dollar amid Trump’s erratic week. We explain  what supports the greenback in the recent moves and what hurts it.
  3. Fiscal stimulus:  Republicans are more likely to go with tax cuts while infrastructure spending seems to take the back foot. What does this mean?
  4. Preview: Apart from following Trump, we have a FED decision as well as the BOE, BJO and the Non-Farm Payrolls among other events.
