Home US Jobless Claims Rise to 372K

The level of weekly unemployment claims in the US stands on 372K. Early expectations stood on 365K. Last week’s initial read stood on 365K. This was now revised to 368K.

EUR/USD is stable around 1.2560. USD/JPY is ticking lower under 76.60.

These are the level seen early in the year. Afterwards, they rose to around 380K and higher, before dropping again. At first, the drop seemed to be related to a shift in seasonal retooling at auto plants, but the drop seems firmer now.

Continuing claims also slightly disappointed by rising from 3.313 million to 3.317 million. A drop to 3.30 million was expected.

Update: New Home Sales came out better than expected.
