Wall Street opens little changed after inflation data

Major equity indexes in the United States started the day relatively calm on Tuesday as investors are assessing the latest inflation data. As of writing, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.1% on the day while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite were adding 0.25% and 0.18%, respectively.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that CPI for all times increased by 0.2% in February boosted by the rising shelter and food prices. The core CPI, which excludes volatile energy and food prices, came in at 2.1% in February on a yearly basis to miss the analysts’ estimate of 2.2%.

Among the 11 major S&P 500 sectors, the communication services gain 0.8% to lead the gains while industrials are dropping 0.45%.
