“There is no question in my mind we are a long way from herd immunity to COVID-19,” Dr Mike Ryan, head of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) emergencies programme, said on Tuesday.
“That herd immunity is not a solution we should be looking to for our salvation,” Dr Ryan added. Meanwhile, WHO epidemiologist Maria Van Kerkhove noted that they are still learning how strong and how long the immune response to coronavirus is.
