Talk of a hard Brexit or no Brexit exacerbated the suffering of the pound, that never fully recovered from the flash crash. At this point, the weakness of sterling complicates matters for the BOE, that gets unwanted inflation. But this rhetoric may have served a purpose; pleasing Brexiteers and serving as a negotiating tactic, and things could get softer now in terms of talk. The pendulum could swing to a different direction for the BOE and for the pound.
