The week ahead: focus on China and the US consumer

Echoes from the NFP are mixed with more news from China, which still dominates the scene. We also have an interesting jobs report from Australia, a dovish risk from the rate decision in the UK, and a Friday focus on the US consumer. Do lower gasoline prices underpin shoppers? And are consumers set to start 2016 with a spree? So far, spending has not met reality, but hopes remain high. Volatility is set to remain elevated. Video preview of the week’s events:
