While addressing the parliament, BoJ Governor, Haruhiko Kuroda, shared some views on digital currencies. As per Reuters, Kuroda passed the following comments regarding digital currencies:
- Japan is not in need of BOJ digital currency now.
- BOJ will continue to study digital currency.
- No plan to issue yen-based digital currency.
- If stablecoins backed by huge platform companies are issued globally, that could have an impact on monetary policy, financial system stability.
- Stablecoins should not be issued without sufficient governance and risk management systems.
